Under the weather

My boys and I are finally getting over a virus. It started with Thing 2. Fever and the other 2 foul things that come with a virus knocked him down pretty hard. He wouldn't eat, and I could barely get him to drink anything. Thing 1 came down with it two days ago.

Then, I get it. Lately when I get a virus, I get so weak that I feel like I am going to black out. Well, I did yesterday morning. Thing 2 was better, but I was trying to get Thing 1 to take some medicine for his fever. My husband had already left for work. On my way to the kitchen, I could feel it coming on. The next thing I remember is my boys calling my name and trying to get me to respond. Scary!!! Thing 2 says I hit the wall and floor pretty hard. My husband had only been gone for 10 minutes when Thing 1 called him to let him know I had passed out.

I am better today and no fever. The boys are also better. I am just hoping and praying that my honey does not come down with it. So far, so good.

A "Little" Something About Me

I am short. When I say short, I mean quite short. I know people that say they are short, and they are like 5'2". I am 4'8". Yep, I am not even 5 feet tall.

So, the other night I went for a walk. I always carry Thing 2's red metal shovel to fend off stray dogs. I had on a blue sweat shirt and a black cap. So, I am walking down the street and hear a group of boys, playing b-ball, say to each other, "Hey, who's the kid with the shovel?" Just as I was thinking, "I must look pretty young for them to think I was a kid", one of them says, "Is it a boy? I think it might be a girl." So before I could even enjoy it, my thought of looking young was overshadowed by the thought of looking like a boy. Not that the pink sneakers should have been a clue, but maybe I should have worn earrings or makeup.

Thing 1 recently turned 13. I don't mind admitting that it was traumatic for me. One of those milestones where you realize that your baby is really growing up. So at the end of a busy weekend celebrating, Thing 2 (my snuggle bug) crawled up in my lap. I wrapped my arms around him and said "I better hold you while I can because one day you will be too big to fit in my lap." He looked up at me and said, "Don't worry Mom. When I am too big to hold, I will wrap my arms around you and hold you." Of course, this made me cry. Then he said, "Mom, I am not going to grow up all at once. You still have time."

I love my sweet boys.
